Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native was raised and born in the city. Pam the mother of Jazmine was once a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her the job of curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the historic mansion. In 2005, a Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student who is majoring in vocal performance. Sullivan started singing in children's choir as a contralto and then she joined the adult chorus a couple of years further on. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was not extensive at first "I was doing solos in the church and was approached by someone to go on an evangelical label when I was eleven but I wasn't yet ready," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's had a competition for kids in major cities, I got a chance to sing 'Accept What God Gives' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". Stevie Wonder sang her part when he turned 13. Sullivan At the age of 15 at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. The label recorded her an entire album. However, the album was never released. Sullivan was ultimately dropped from the label. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott and produced a number of the tracks in her debut album including the buzz single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
